We were filming interviews on the third floor of The Delancey for the Mudd Club Reunion. It was also a Club 57 reunion and New Wave Vaudeville reunion as well. The third floor was filled with the sound of people socializing. Suddenly I noticed the room got very quiet. I turned and saw Needles Jones entering the room. Everyone simply stopped talking and were looking at him. No one seemed to know what to make of him. He was the one original surprise of the evening. Needles Jones was actually the last manager of Club 57. He was known as Ira Abromovitz back then and looked entirely different. I saw Ann Magnuson and saw a great chance for a film interview. Ann was the first manager of Club 57. She certainly remembered Ira and was one of the few people who recognized who he was. I got the two of them together and Ann agreed to interview Needles on camera and to have a give and take conversation. I have to say it was very fun and funny. I broke out laughing more than once. You will have to wait till we complete the editing of the film to see the final results. The best way to see what Needles does is to go to one of his videos of his performance and you can start by doing that when you click on his name above.
