I have completed the Prague Fairy Tale Series for now…. I am
going to be leaving Prague and before I do I first want to post the making of
series of each photo that we did and then to complete it by posting the final
chosen photos for the Prague Fairy Tale Series that was exhibited in the Berlin
group gallery show “Your Daily Darkness” at the Neurotitan Gallery that I curated and was in. I am doing this as a sort of purge
and have posted the earlier “Making Of’ photos from the series, but start again
at a very appropriate “Making Of” from the photo session of the Russian fairy
tale “Destiny”.
I feel my own personal destiny has been made for me. Through
a series of events that started from the Berlin exhibition “Your
Daily Darkness” up to now, I am forced to make major life changing decisions. First
with the crisis of finance because of losing all work and Prague and debts
caused by the gallery show (All my fault. I take responsibility for my
actions), the loss of relationships in Prague that I thought were more
meaningful and then having to give up my home as a result of all of this. This
seems all very dark indeed, but now I am excited and begin a new chapter as a
result. I feel in some ways I am being forced out of Prague, but now I see it
more as a positive because if this did not happen, if I did not get this kick
in the ass and head I would never have dared to make this move.
I am moving to Berlin. I have an opportunity. An adventure
and a journey: I have a free flat to live in. I have been offered by a New York
gallery (in their words: through the eyes that experienced New York ‘80s) to
capture Berlin 2013. This is a joint project being done with the invaluable
support, help and partnership with Berlin TV producer Jana Oberdoerffer, and
together we will do this complex project. Berlin’s Maria Psycho and Steve
Morrel will take me on a wild journey through the Berlin underground plus
Berlin’s various art scenes and events. We will spontaneously photograph people
that we meet and experience. We also plan to meet designers, musicians and
artists who we personally know and love and want to involve in this project. I
also plan to do video portraits of specially selected people along with Berlin
cinematographer Patrick Papow. I will also be doing silkscreens and some
surprises that will take this exhibition to a new level. And this is going to
be done with the help and support of New York’s Rodrigo Salomon, with the
exhibition taking place at his gallery, Salomon Arts Gallery in Tribeca, New
York City in November. More will be revealed as we do this project.
For this “Making Of” series of “Destiny” it is a story of a
young daughter who is forced out of her home for bringing bad luck upon her
family. Left on her own wits and survival instincts she makes her way through
life and eventually comes face to face with a witch in the form of destiny.
This witch (Baba Yaga) is ugly and feels ugly. The young girl shows the witch
her inner beauty thus opening the way for her own fortune when the witches’
inner beauty comes out and lends a helping hand for the young girl’s future. I
am looking forward to meeting my beautiful Destiny. Thank you for this special
photo and experience to models Irena Andreeva and Irena Kristekova from the
amazing Prague physical theatre company Teatre Novogo Fronta, Daphne Aidoni and
Luis Cerdas Jaubert for art direction
and all the help from Lucia and all people from Teatre Novogo Fronta for the use of
their performance space, lights and equipment!!!!!
